About Me

Hi! I’m Allie Schneider and I created Allie Cooks Plants. I am a senior at Tulane University pursuing a degree in public health and minoring in business. After completing a nutrition class at Tulane, I realized the extensive health benefits of eating plant-based. I decided to create Allie Cooks Plants to teach people how to incorporate more plants into their diets!

I grew up eating meat and other animal products – I honestly think I used to eat an entire wheel of brie cheese every week. At the beginning of my sophomore year of college, I decided to start eating plant-based for a variety of reasons, including environmental impacts and my own health. I have eaten this way for almost two years now and have enjoyed every second of it!

I love the term “plant-based” because it’s a category every diet can fall into. I don’t equate plant-based with vegan, but with any diet emphasizing fresh, whole foods. The recipes on this blog are intended for vegans and meat-eaters alike. I often cook for my meat-eating friends, and they are always impressed with how much they enjoy plant-based cuisine. With a little effort and some creativity, plant-based food can be extremely satisfying!
